Zancana Community Center

Zancana Community Center is a non- for profit charitable organization registered in Toronto Canada

It has been registered in October 16, 2009.

Zancana Community Center has been registered as a charity because:

  • It advances religion by promoting the spiritual teachings and maintaining the doctrines and spiritual observance of the Islamic faith;
  • It benefits the community by providing education, counselling and other support services for immigrants need.


a) To establish and operate a community center to be used for workshops, programs, athletic, drama, art music, handicraft, hobbies and recreation for the benefit of the general public.

b) To provide education, counseling and other support services for immigration and refugee in need, including language, employment training, job search programs, translation services, and other program on Canadian culture and life.

c) To preach and advance the teaching of the Islamic faith and the religious tenets, doctrines, observances and culture associated with the faith.

d) To establish, maintain and support a house of worship with services conducted in accordance with the tenets and doctrines of the Islamic faith.

e) To establish and maintain religious schools of instruction for children, youth and adults.


Zanzibar-Canadian Association


Zanzibar-Canadian Association (ZANCANA, in short) is a community organization founded by people with Zanzibari origin presently living in Canada. Zanzibar is made up of two main islands (Unguja and Pemba) and several smaller ones off the coast of East Africa.

Welcome means KARIBU in the Swahili vernacular. Zanzibar is the majestic spice island of the East Africa in Indian Ocean.These are two main islands of Unguja and Pemba. Over centuries different cultures have influenced Zanzibar to become what it is today. Sumerians, Assyrians, Egyptians, Phonecians, Indians, Chinese, Persians, Portuguse, Omani Arabs, Dutch and British have settled here at one time or another and influenced the local culture into the present fusion

Zanzibar-Canadian Association (ZANCANA, in short) is a non for profit organization, registered in Toronto, Ontario Canada.

ZANCANA Objectives

The objectives of the Zanzibar-Canadian Association (ZANCANA) are:

  • To provide services to the community and new immigrants on issues such as, immigration, legal services, housing, job search and social services
  • To help its members and new immigrants in adapting to the Canadian society
  • To promote and maintain the Zanzibar culture and the cultures of the other members of this Association
  • To enhance the cultural contribution to the multicultural heritage of Canada.
  • To bring together members of the Zanzibari community and other communities in Canada and provide them with a platform to discuss, share, and promote matters of general interest to individual members and the community at large.
  • To perform any activities incidental to the above objectives
